Great broker when trading small amounts

Why 4 stars? Well when you are trading 1 mio (10 lots) fills are great. However as soon as you place a market order for 5 mio (50 lots) your order will be pending for some time.

As GFT is market maker that cares about it's reputation, small orders are taken to the book without any consideration, when large orders are sometimes hedged in the market to protect broker from losses.

For this reasons large trades are pending until decided weather to hedge them or not. Which can be a bit annoying.

Quote:: I have been using gft for about a year now. I have never had a requote or errant spike in a pair. They are always willing to help and have excellent customer service on the phone when I need it. Theie platform is very reliable. There spreads do not widen during news. They offer many pairs. They have competitive spreads and a high net capital. I feel safe with them. I have been with a few of the major firms in the U.S. and they do not compare to GFT. One thing GFT can do better is offer a better charting package. I think they need a few more chart types and an easy way to prorgram indicators. Once the new FIFP rule came into affect GFT was ready and ntohing changed with my limit orders and stops.

Quote:: It is impossible for a small trader to work with gft. All of thier spreads will destroy your account. Even if you are trading profitable pretty much all of your profits are going to this broker. Also they do manipulate price like most brokers, they go stop running all the time. If you dont believe me watch an oanda 1 min chart when price is near a swing and watch a gft 1 min chart. You will notice that gft's price will almost always peirce below the swing however oanda will not. This sort of thing happens all the time in the forex market, price fixing, because the fcm's love to pick on retail clients, its straight up robbery. Save your pips and play the currencies in the futures market where things like this cannot happen. If you are going to trade retail forex use oanda, tighter spreads and no price fixings.

Quote:: I haven't had any issue with GFT. I love the platform and their customer reps are very helpful. I trade most swing style, so no scalping or news trading. I always get filled at the price requested. I have make several withdrawls with no problems. Good broker if you are a swing trader like me. :)

Quote:: I still have my account with GFT and most of the serious traders that I know still use them. GFT is a good solid broker and they've been around for years (as long as FXCM). Their technology is not designed for beginners. I have friends that move 1 to 2 yards per month thur GFT without issue, so they aren't scammy.

Here is the deal. GFT doesn't want the $1000 mini accounts. Everything is designed to help larger account holders move their volume with as little hassle as possible... but for a fee. Think of GFT as the AMEX of the our industry. A service that is designed and priced for premium clients.

Bottom line (and this is important): They've been around forever and they don't have a "scammy" rating anywhere? They don't have a lot of 5 star ratings either, but still... no extreme negative reviews. Their spreads aren't fantastic, but they will NOT dork with your account.

My rating = 5 stars for the broker, - 1 star for the crappy spreads

Note: if I had only my money to trade, I would probably use GFT or Dukascopy
